Schoodles

Today was my first day of school, nothing terribly exciting to report, but I did get some fun doodling done. These will most likely be cut up and pasted into a sketchbook, but since it's a special occasion I thought I'd post them here in their original (albeit cropped) format. If I don't find something more important to do on Mondays I have an hour break between classes so expect more posts like that here until I find a better use for a blog.

Lesson 4

I decided today that I would take the leap to lesson 4 in John K's $100,000 Animation School.


I started with the rabbit because that's how I have the print-outs ordered. This first scan is my first and second attempts, the drawing on top has notes that I made before I checked it against Preston's originals on the computer. Which admittedly was a terrible mistake.


So I checked both copies lining them up as best I could and found out that I was totally wrong about the fists, but was right that I had the body too long. I marked my corrections and attempted to construct the rabbit once more.


This seemed a lot closer, and indeed was, but I feel that it somehow degenerated but couldn't place my finger on it.


Rescanned and checked in photoshop, sure enough the legs are more out of tune than ever and the head is still to small, but now I know where I'm weakest, judging horizontal proportions and placing things that I can't easily map out.

Any suggestions or techniques on how to map these out more logically would be greatly appreciated.

Been Awhile

I got behind for a couple of days, was a bit under the weather which was keeping me tired all day long.


Anyways here's more practice with intermittent fooling around.











This last one is in the pocket moleskine I carry around, I was going to draw out the other cans that were sitting on the table downstairs, but I decided to do something else and added the little man afterwards.

I started watching The Honeymooners on youtube, it's funny, but it's also kind of strange how much The Flintstones borrowed from it. I decided to check it out after seeing this cartoon on the very awesome New Year's Eve all day Looney Tunes marathon on Cartoon Network.

A Story from North America

I'm now using this thing to collect videos that I like from various sources, if it didn't take so long to scan and resize things I'd consider scanning drawings, but that's a lot of time to spend.

Drink Tè

So I've been drinking a lot of different teas lately. The Uncle Lee's USDA certified organic green tea I bought has a very eerie green tinge to it, while the Tazo Zen Green Tea has a rich golden color.

I'm rather pleased with how the letters I made for the tag came out, not quite as fond of the "Drink" though.

So I meant to upload everything when I actually last posted, but I forgot, so here's everything from the sketchbook on my desk, all the other scraps are already put away so I'm not going to dig them out.





Everything from August will be up tomorrow or tonight depending on how I manage my time.

There's also this track that I can't remember how I ran into, a side project of one of the members of Black Moth Super Rainbow, it's kind of scarier than regular BMSR.



Also, I decided to haphazardly assemble a mix for songs I was listening to fairly often in July, but I'll post the list and a rapid share in the next post.
